Engaging AI-driven learning experience to enhance knowledge retention

Blox Academy is a training platform designed to train aspiring Relationship Managers/agents with the essential skills and real estate knowledge needed for success.

As the first UX designer at Blox, I joined at a pivotal stage when the company was in initials stages of building a mobile learning experience (LXP) to ensure RMs were well-versed in real estate terminology.. With a few initial designs and tight deadlines, I took ownership of the end-to-end design process, shaping the platform from concept to execution.

The goal was to craft an engaging, interactive learning journey with high completion rates by integrating AI-driven, chat-based quizzes, gamification, and personalized feedback—setting Blox Academy apart with its focus on adaptive learning and real-world application.

Outcome

Increased course completion rate by 57% and reduced logistic load by 37%.

Team

CXO, 2 front-end engineers, 1 backend engineer, 1 AI/ML specialist, 1 PM, me (solo product designer)

My Role

100% individual project: from research, user interviews, and usability testing to prototypes.

Problem

Existing offline method showed lack of knowledge retention

Blox, a prop-tech is aiming to onboard young talent, faced the challenge of efficiently training new RMs. The existing offline training method showed less knowledge retention and lacked engagement. The goal was to create a robust, interactive training platform that effectively imparts knowledge, assesses understanding, and prepares RMs for their roles.

A growing need to train young sales representative about real estate terminology

Our users especially those new to the industry, lacked familiarity with essential real estate terminology. This knowledge gap impacted their confidence and the company’s professional image as they struggled to communicate effectively.

To support this, I designed learning journeys using spaced repetition, a method proven to help combat the forgetting curve. The journeys consisted of activities that combined short texts with images or videos and ended with interactive engagements. In engagements, course participants worked actively with learning content. I designed the engagement to be activated when the user was ready so they could focus on the learning content before the upcoming task.

This aligns with course participants' need for flexibility, allowing them to complete tasks during short breaks in their day and reinforcing learning without overwhelming them.

Learning

Blox Academy was my first opportunity to take a concept from 0 to 1, and the journey was both challenging and rewarding. Each phase, from initial stakeholder meetings to collaborating with project managers, users, and the development team, offered invaluable insights into how business, operations, and technology work.

Key learnings from this experience:

  • Balancing user needs with business goals.

  • Translating complex requirements into actionable designs.

  • Navigating cross-functional collaboration effectively.

  • Deepening my understanding of the product design process.

  • Thinking strategically and empathizing with stakeholders across different functions.
